The Pessebre de Sorra of Vila-seca, la Pineda Platja reaches its 26th edition

24/11/2025

The 26th Pessebre de Sorra on La Pineda beach, in Vila-seca, will be erected in early December and will remain open until 6 January 2026. For one month, the Christmas-themed sand sculptures will be on display in Parc del Pinar de Perruquet. Surrounding the Pessebre, the Nomad Festival will once again take place, offering family shows, children’s workshops, live music, a market and a gastronomic area.

The Pessebre de Sorra will be built from 1 to 6 December. Initially, visitors will be able to observe the sculptors compacting the sand with water and pneumatic tools, using wooden formwork to give the figures the required height. Once this phase is completed, they will begin sculpting the sand and removing the formwork to reveal the final figures. The sculptural ensemble is expected to be completed on 6 December, featuring a new theme that will gradually be unveiled as the work progresses. The installation will cover 400 m² and 350 m³ of sand will be used.

In 2024, coinciding with its 25th anniversary, nearly 275,000 people visited the Pessebre de Sorra in Parc del Pinar de Perruquet.

The sculptures
Ten sculptors with decades of experience in ephemeral sand, ice and snow sculpture will be responsible for shaping the pieces, ensuring a unique Pessebre each year and a remarkable experience for visitors. Coming from Belgium, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Latvia, Czechia and Catalonia, they have taken part in several previous editions and have received multiple international awards.

As every year, the traditional artisans’ market will be set up next to the sculptures, open from 11:00 to 19:00.
