05/08/2024The Costa Dorada has reached a sponsorship agreement with the women’s football team Olympique Lyon to promote itself in the French market until June 2025. This agreement is part of the Joint Promotion Plan involving the Tourist Board of the Provincial Council of Tarragona Costa Daurada, Salou, Cambrils and Vila-seca, together with the Business Federation of Hospitality and Tourism in the province of Tarragona (FEHT). Thus, the Costa Dorada has become an Official Partner of Olympique Lyon Women. The presentation of the agreement was made on April 9 in Lyon and was attended by players and the CEO of Olympique and various authorities and representatives of the Costa Dorada.
Lluïsa Clavé, president of the Municipal Tourism Board of Vila-seca has referred to the agreement “as a great opportunity to promote the destination in the main source market, the French. We are a benchmark in terms of sports tourism and we have first class facilities and that a team like Olympique Lyon women do a stage on the Costa Dorada will allow us to position ourselves even more in the segment of sports tourism.
The joint promotion plan
This promotional action is part of the joint plan to promote tourism on the Costa Dorada, signed by the Tourist Board of the Provincial Council of Tarragona Costa Daurada, Salou, Cambrils, Vila-seca, together with the tourism business associations that make up the Federation of Hotel and Tourism Businesses of the province of Tarragona (FEHT), which represents 90% of the accommodation places in the province. This strategy seeks to apply the resources obtained from the tax on overnight stays in regulated establishments to boost the marketing and promotion of the region’s tourism products and services, as well as to boost and reinforce knowledge of the destination.
The main objective of this promotion plan, launched in 2014, is to apply part of the resources obtained from the tax on overnight stays in regulated establishments and it is the FEHT that is responsible for managing it. Thus, for several years now, very positive synergies have been created between the public and private sectors in order to achieve promotional objectives, both for the Costa Dorada, such as the towns of Salou, Cambrils and Vila-seca, and also for the tourist establishments: hotels, campsites and flats. For the year 2024, the plan has a budget of 900,000 euros.
