03/05/2021It is Christmas time in Vila-seca and, as the calendar shows, one of the most deeply rooted Christmas traditions of the territory arrives: the Pessebre de Sorra. This year, the monumental sculptures formed with more than 280 m³ of sand, celebrate their 20th birthday.
The construction of the sculpture group will begin this week and will be practically finished by the weekend of 5th and 6th of December. As usual, it will be located in the area of the fountains in the Parc del Pinar de Perruquet, occupying some 200m2, and can be visited until 8th of January from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
The Pessebre de Sorra is part of the traditional Christmas activities of Vila-seca. The starting signal for these events will be the official lighting of the Christmas lights, next Friday 4th December, from the Parc del Pinar de Perruquet.
This year, despite being the twentieth birthday of the Pessebre de Sorra, the health situation caused by Covid 19 has not allowed the traditional family activities and Christmas concerts to take place.
Even so, it has been possible to incorporate some outstanding new features. This is the case of the improvements in terms of accessibility for people with reduced mobility with the installation of ramps at the accesses to the Pessebre.
In addition, during weekends, long weekends and Christmas days, there will be different stands for artisans next to the Pessebre. Specifically, they can be visited on 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 12th, 13th, 19th, 20th, 21st, 22nd, 23rd, 24th, 26th, 27th, 28th, 29th, 30th, 31st of December and on 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th of January from 11 am to 7 pm.
In all the above-mentioned events, compliance with the recommendations and measures for safety, social distance and hygiene in force will be ensured.
