This agreement also includes that the first Manchester City women’s football team will make a stage each season to the Costa Daurada. The first is scheduled to take place from 25 to 29 April at the Salou Sports Center football facilities.
Pere Segura, mayor of Vila-seca, has referred to the commitment that is made to work for the deseasonalization of the tourist season through sport: “we believe that a team as important and with as many followers as Manchester City women make two stages of preparation to the Costa Dorada will give us a lot of visibility and help us to continue positioning ourselves as a leading destination in sports tourism, a fact that should also help us with the deseasonalization. We have a very mild climate all year round and many teams from central and northern Europe already visit us in winter, spring and autumn”.
Gavin Makel, Chief Executive of Manchester City Women’s Football Club, said: “We at Manchester City are delighted to welcome the Costa Daurada as an official partner of our women’s team; becoming our tourism partner speaks volumes about their commitment to women’s football and its growth. We are excited about the opportunities that will be offered to our team and supporters as a result of this agreement”.
