The Costa Dorada has reached a sponsorship agreement with the Manchester City women’s football team to promote itself in the British market until June 2023. This agreement is part of the Joint Promotion Plan involving the Tourist Board of the Provincial Council of Tarragona Costa Daurada, Salou, Cambrils and Vila-seca, together with the Federación Empresarial de Hostelería y Turismo de la provincia de Tarragona (Business Federation of Hospitality and Tourism in the province of Tarragona) (FEHT). Thus, the Costa Dorada has become an Official Partner of Manchester City Women’s Football Club and Official Tourism Partner of Manchester City Women’s Football Club.
The act of presentation of the agreement, which has counted with the presentation of Danae Boronat – journalist from Tarragona, specialized in sports broadcasting-, has been held in the Castell de Vila-seca.
As explained Quim Cristià, vice president of the FEHT, “it is a sponsorship for the seasons 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 that includes multiple actions such as the broadcast of the logo of the Joint Promotion Plan to the perimeter LED billboards around the stadium during all home matches of the FA Women’s Super League and the publication of the logo in the press room during the interviews pre and post match of the FA Women’s Super League”. In addition, the Costa Daurada will be able to make use of the club’s graphic materials for marketing actions and advertising campaigns, publications will also be made on the Club’s social networks and content will also be created jointly. As part of this agreement, a prize draw will also be held among Manchester City women’s fans, giving them the opportunity to visit the Costa Daurada.
This agreement also includes that the first Manchester City women’s football team will make a stage each season to the Costa Daurada. The first is scheduled to take place from 25 to 29 April at the Salou Sports Center football facilities.
Pere Segura, mayor of Vila-seca, has referred to the commitment that is made to work for the deseasonalization of the tourist season through sport: “we believe that a team as important and with as many followers as Manchester City women make two stages of preparation to the Costa Dorada will give us a lot of visibility and help us to continue positioning ourselves as a leading destination in sports tourism, a fact that should also help us with the deseasonalization. We have a very mild climate all year round and many teams from central and northern Europe already visit us in winter, spring and autumn”.
Gavin Makel, Chief Executive of Manchester City Women’s Football Club, said: “We at Manchester City are delighted to welcome the Costa Daurada as an official partner of our women’s team; becoming our tourism partner speaks volumes about their commitment to women’s football and its growth. We are excited about the opportunities that will be offered to our team and supporters as a result of this agreement”.
