Vila-seca, la Pineda Platja, is best known for its calm and lovely beaches, although there are many more attractions that make it a perfect spot to visit in the springtime, autumn and winter too. If you don\u2019t have much time with us, here is what we suggest you do.<\/p>\n
Vila-seca stands out for its beach and the seaside promenade that runs alongside it. The route is over three kilometres and it is a pleasure to stroll along with the sun and breeze on your face any time of year. Take a nice stroll along the seaside and you will pass by several landmarks: the large sculptural pieces Marca d\u2019Aigua <\/em>(Watermark) and Pineda<\/em> (Pine Grove), as well as Pinar de Perruquet Park, a large plant-filled urban park touching the sand.<\/p>\n In mid-morning, head to the natural space of S\u00e9quia Major, where you can see loads of plant and animal species, some of which are endangered. These important Catalan marshlands have been protected under the Government of Catalonia\u2019s Plan for Lands with Natural Interest (PEIN). If you\u2019re a nature lover or like bird watching, you will fall in love with this spot. Book your free guided tour (from August to February, when the birds are not nesting) by ringing 977 39 03 62.<\/p>\n In the afternoon, head into the town of Vila-seca to see its cultural heritage, by taking a flexible route through the historic centre at your own pace. You can follow it because there are 10 identifying totems next to the most important landmarks with QR codes with information. A good starting point is Raval de la Mar road, where you can see the twelfth century Creu de la Beguda (a cross once used as a boundary marker between municipalities). Continue on your way by visiting the castle; the church of Sant Esteve; the Celler; the Portal de Sant Antoni (14th century); the Torre de la Tuies del Caf\u00e8 (16th century); and the watchtowers of Abadia, Ardiaca, Delme and Homenatge (12th century).<\/p>\n And to return home like new, maybe a stop at one of Vila-seca\u2019s spa and wellness centres would be to your liking.
