Near the ancient trade road of the Via Augusta and not far from Priorat is Barenys, a centuries old Roman vineyard. Its proximity to the Mediterranean means that it is bathed in a temperate seaside climate, with morning mists and long dry summers. The surrounding countryside is mainly flat, with somewhat fertile soil with substrates of gravel and sand that is slightly clayey. Climate and lands that perfectly explain the rich flavour and freshness of the wines.<\/p>\n
Two generations of the Bach family have devoted a good part of their lives to learning and developing the art of viticulture, the care and protection of the land and to discovering its secrets. In 1995, Josep M. Bach i Voltas took up the family tradition once again to create the present-day Clos Barenys.<\/p>\n
The Mas Bach estate cultivates the varieties of cabernet sauvignon, merlot, syrah and muscatel. To achieve a greater complexity and richness of aromas, they prune deeply, stripping the leaves from the grapevines and carefully selecting the clusters. Their commitment to ecology is based on absolute respect for the environment. The harvest and later selection of the grape clusters on the workbenches is done by hand to ensure the maximum quality of the wines. Wines with great expressiveness and a unique personality that are a reflection of doing a great job at the winery.<\/p>\n
They produce three types of wine: Clos Barenys young white, Clos Barenys wood red and Clos Barenys long aged red.<\/p>\n
The winery can be visited by booking in advance and depending on availability for groups of 25 or more.<\/p>\n\n\n
