Young and old flock onto the streets disguised as their favourite characters or objects.<\/p><p>The Carnival festivities start on Maundy Thursday. The unifying hub of the celebrations is the spectacular Carnival parade and the awards ceremony for the best poster and the gold, silver and bronze prizes for the best costumes.<\/p><p>On the last day, after the funeral procession, Carnestoltes says goodbye for another year with a popular grilled sardine and hot chocolate feast for all townspeople, which is known as the Burial of the Sardine.
