The FICVI, International Short Film Festival of Vila-seca, has selected 45 short films out of the total of 1,140 submitted, a record number that continues to endorse the national and international relevance of this event, which also collaborates in the pre-selection of short films for the Goya Awards. Without going any further, the short film Amarradas by Carmen C\u00f3rdoba, FICVI 22 Animation Award, was among the five best animated short films at the Goya 2022 and La Entrega by Pedro D\u00edaz, FICVI 22 National Award, was also among the finalists for the Goya for the best fiction short film.<\/p>\n
Thirty-six fiction short films and nine animated films will be shown on the big screen at the Celler de Vila-seca. The works selected this year star renowned actors and actresses such as Luisa Gavasa, winner of the FICVI Lifetime Achievement Award in the last edition, twice in Alegre y Ol\u00e9, where we also find Mireia Oriol, and in Paris 70, where Alain Hern\u00e1ndez appears. Emma Vilarassau in Sis\u00e8 Primera, with Marc Clotet, Nat\u00e0lia S\u00e0nchez and Vicky Luengo, who also stars in Fiona with Enric Auquer. Miguel \u00c1ngel Mu\u00f1oz in T\u00fa tijera en m\u00ed oreja, Luis Tosar in Madreselva, \u00c0lex Monner in Sushi, Roberto Leal in Carraxe, Karra Elejalde in Yegua, Alba Flores in Malegro Verte, Ariadna Gil in Flechas, Manuela Velasco, Ram\u00f3n Barea and Ra\u00fal Fern\u00e1ndez de Pablo in 24 siete and Pepe Viyuela in Actos por partes.<\/p>\n
In the filmmaking section, Toni Bestard, National Award at FICVI 2018 and member of the Hollywood Academy; Fernando Bonelli, Audience Award at FICVI 2019; Rub\u00e9n Guindo, Audience Award at FICVI 2020; Santiago Requejo, Audience Award at FICVI 2021; and Nata Moreno, director of the documentary Ara Malikian, winner of the Forqu\u00e9 and Goya Awards, among others, will be present.<\/p>\n
Of the 45 films selected, there are films from Uruguay, Argentina, Sweden, Israel, Hungary, Belgium, France, Mexico, the Netherlands, Denmark… and thirty-four from Spain, of which six are in Catalan, two in Galician and two in Basque. The selected short films deal with topics such as human rights, mental health, feminism, addictions, death, social problems, the LGTBIQ+ collective and other everyday issues such as family dramas.<\/p>\n
