After almost two weeks of work, the Pessebre de Sorra<\/em> of Vila-seca, la Pineda Platja will be completed this week and can be visited, fully finished, from Saturday, 6 December. This morning, the president of the Vila-seca Municipal Tourism Board, Llu\u00efsa Clav\u00e9, and the project coordinator, N\u00faria Vallverd\u00fa, welcomed and briefed the media during a tour of the nearly completed sculptures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 26th edition of the Pessebre de Sorra<\/em> covers an area of 400 m\u00b2, and 350 m\u00b3 of sand have been used for its construction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis year, we have chosen a large-scale nativity scene that enhances the beauty and visual impact of the sculptures to the fullest, together with a theme inspired by the pacifist movements of the 1960s, with the aim of promoting values such as respect, freedom and peace,\u201d explained Llu\u00efsa Clav\u00e9, president of the Vila-seca Municipal Tourism Board.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ten sculptors with decades of experience in ephemeral sand, ice and snow sculpture are responsible for shaping the figures, creating a unique nativity scene every year and achieving a striking result for visitors. The artists, from Belgium, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Latvia, the Czech Republic and Catalonia, have taken part in several previous editions of the Pessebre de Sorra<\/em> and have received numerous international awards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For her part, N\u00faria Vallverd\u00fa, project coordinator, highlighted the significance of this nativity scene as \u201ca unique tradition on the peninsula, capable of combining ephemeral art, community and family tourism.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As every year, the traditional craft market will be located next to the sculptures, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Following the success of its first edition, the travelling Nomad Christmas festival will once again stop at Parc del Pinar de Perruquet on 6, 7, 8, 13 and 14 December, offering a full programme from 11 a.m. to 8.30 p.m., including a Christmas market, a food truck area, workshops and family shows, live music performances and musical bingo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
