20/01/2022Vila-seca has presented today at a press conference the program of Christmas and Epiphany in Vila-seca, which has been led by the mayor of Vila-seca, Pere Segura, the Councillor for Innovation and Tourism, Cristina Cid and the Councillor for Culture, Knowledge and Civic Relations, Manuela Moya.
As stated by the Mayor of Vila-seca, Pere Segura, “the programme of Christmas festivities this year, which includes a total of fifty events, has been the result of excellent coordination between the Department of Culture and the Municipal Tourism Board of Vila-seca”. The starting signal for the activities will be on Friday 3rd of December with the construction of the 22nd edition of the Pessebre de Sorra in the Parc del Pinar de Perruquet de la Pineda, work which is expected to finish in the middle of next week. The 6th of January will be the last day to visit it and, as in the last editions, we must remember that around the Pessebre there will be several children’s activities and carol concerts.
On the other hand, and also this coming Friday, there will be the switching on of the Christmas lights in the Plaça de Sant Joan de la Plana, at 5 pm; an act that will be enlivened by the children’s show offered by the Cía Ilargia.
On Friday 17th of December there will be the traditional Christmas Greetings in the Plaça de l’Església, with a performance by the Choir Petits Cantors from the Vila-seca Music Conservatory, the broth and the longest nougat in Catalonia, measuring 2021 centimetres.
The councillor for Culture, Knowledge and Civic Relations, Manuela Moya, stressed that “this year, as a novelty, all the children who want to deliver their letters to Their Majesties the Three Wise Men from the East will also be able to do so from La Pineda and La Plana, in the Magical Office that will be installed next to the Pessebre de Sorra on Saturday 18th of December and in the Plaça de Sant Joan on Sunday 19th, respectively”. In the Castell de Vila-seca, the Royal Tents will be open on 24th, 26th, 30th and 31st of December and 2nd of January, from 10.00 to 14.00h am.
As for Christmas theatrical performances, we must highlight “A Christmas Story” by the Theatre Group “Se’nos va l’Olla” on 18th of December at the Ateneu Pi i Maragall; “The Christmas Poem” by Josep Maria de Sagarra by the Theatre Group La Tramoia, on the same Saturday at the El Centru Theatre and, in the same space, the Pastorets will be performed on 25th of December and 1st and 2nd of January. In addition to the theatre, two concerts will also take place during the festivities: the traditional Sant Esteve concert on 26th of December in the Auditori Josep Carreras, and the concert by the Jove Orquestra Intercomarcal on Tuesday 28th of December, also in the Auditori.
As the councillor for Innovation and Tourism, Cristina Cid, pointed out, “we want to transmit the illusion to families just as they do at home”. In this way, the Christmas and Epiphany programme, especially designed for families, includes a series of activities designed specifically for children. Thus, several events are scheduled, such as the storytelling and carol music “La fada de la neu” on December 19th at the Centre Cívic i Cultural de La Pineda and the two Tió festivals that will take place in La Plana on Sunday 19th and in Vila-seca on Friday 24th. As every year, from 27th of December until 30th of December there will also be a Christmas Children’s Park at the Pavelló Municipal d’Esports in Vila-seca from 5pm to 8pm, with workshops, games, inflatables, paint shops, mobile toy library and also children’s magic shows, puppet shows, entertainment and storytelling. In addition to these activities, on Sunday 2nd of January, the AlbertPiq show will discover the main characteristics of light and sound through magic and illusionism. The show will take place in the Josep Carreras Auditorium at 6pm.
On 31st of December there will be the traditional dip in the sea for Saint Sylvester Day on La Pineda beach and the arrival of the man with the Home dels Nassos from 6.15 p.m. at the train station. And to start the new year, on the 1st of January at 1am at the Pavelló Municipal d’Esports there will be the New Year’s Eve Celebration.
Finally, the Christmas programme includes the arrival of Their Majesties the Three Wise Men from the East, with a parade in Vila-seca that will end at the Castell de Vila-seca, another in La Pineda along Passeig de Pau Casals and in La Plana along the various streets of the neighbourhood.
