More than 1,000 people have already enjoyed the International Short Film Festival of Vila-seca

More than 1,000 people have already walked the red carpet at the Celler de Vila-seca to enjoy the first five days of screenings at the International Short Film Festival (FICVI), which is being held from 8 to 17 November. The event, with free admission, reaches its halfway point after the opening gala, 6 official sessions with a subsequent discussion, a youth session and two workshops that have been a great success.

But the short film festival doesn’t stop because, until next Sunday, the festival still has 5 official sessions, 2 youth sessions, the screening of the film portraits of the municipality presented in the IN SITU competition, the ‘Shorts & Wine’ workshop, the closing gala and the final screening of the winning films.

Between Tuesday and Thursday, 3 more special sessions have been programmed for students from schools and institutes, who will then have the opportunity to share views and satisfy curiosities with the team of the documentary ‘O Que Me Parta Un Rayo’.

On Thursday afternoon there will be a screening of short films shot in Vila-seca, followed by the official sessions recommended for over 12s with two blocks of short films about the different forms of friendship and growing up.

On Friday, the last 14 shorts of the official section will be screened, grouped into three sessions entitled ‘Nothing is what it seems’ (for over 12s), ‘Ways of relating to each other’ (for over 14s) and ‘Adult Matters’ (for over 18s).

On Saturday morning there will be a workshop on animated short films and wine ‘Shorts & Wine’, which has already sold out, and at 19:00 the festival’s conclusion will begin, led by Samanta Villar, journalist, writer, radio and television presenter, university lecturer and conference speaker.

This will be the long-awaited and magical moment to announce the winners of the ninth edition of the festival, to announce the short films that will enter the pre-selection for the Goya 2025, and to award the 10 prizes that are up for grabs to the authors of the winning short films, which will all be shown together in a final session the following day, Sunday at 19:00.

The closing gala will end with a small snack courtesy of Cátering Llamas, DO Tarragona and Bodegas Yzaguirre. Entrance to the gala is free, like the rest of the sessions, but in this case you must book in advance using the following form.

FICVI began on Friday 8 November with an opening full of surprises and fun presented by the actress Marina Gatell. Throughout the 6 official sessions that have already taken place, the public has been able to exchange impressions with Bárbara Sánchez and Andrea Ballesterors, who spoke about the connection between nature, birds and the importance of sound in audiovisuals; the director of the documentary ‘Ei, Temi’, Arnau Belloc, about Paquita and her robot; the director of the documentary ‘Dol i fa sol’, Marina Bresora; and the director of the fiction short film ‘Vida o teatro’, Guillem Manzanares, who explained the reunion of a young girl with her mother.

On the other hand, within the young section of the festival, the first of the three special sessions for schools and institutes was held on Tuesday, with an interesting discussion between the artistic director of FICVI, Alba Bresolí, and the director of the short film ‘Tesoro’, Carmen Álvarez.

In addition, during these first five days, two parallel activities have also taken place: an inspiring family workshop of panoramas with instant camera by the cultural association A Bao A Qu and the training day that this year accompanies the IN SITU competition, guided by the FICVI programmer Ingrid Ferrer.
