FICVI, the Vila-seca International Short Film Festival, has opened the call for entries for its 11th edition, which will take place from 17 to 25 October 2026. Organised by the Vila-seca Tourist Board, the festival has established itself as a benchmark platform for the promotion of short films at both national and international levels.
Submissions are open until 7 June 2026 via the Festhome platform and are open to fiction, animation and documentary short films with a maximum running time of 30 minutes. Entries must have been produced after 1 July 2024 and must not have been commercially released or broadcast on television in Spain.
FICVI maintains its partnership with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences of Spain as a collaborating festival in the preselection process for the Goya Awards in the categories of fiction, animation and documentary, further enhancing its prestige within the film circuit.
The festival aims to bring the best emerging cinema to Vila-seca, championing innovative, diverse and high-quality proposals, while also providing a platform for filmmakers. The programme is structured into two competitive sections: the Official Section and the IN SITU section, the latter dedicated to locally produced short films with a running time of under 3 minutes.
As for awards, the festival will grant several prizes totalling more than €9,000, including awards for the best national and international short films, as well as specific prizes that include direct preselection for the Goya Awards in three categories. Audience awards and IN SITU section prizes will also be presented, among others.
The selection of short films will be carried out by the festival’s programming team, which will assess entries based on quality, originality and diversity, while ensuring gender parity. Selected films will be announced between 14 and 21 July 2026.
With this new call, FICVI reaffirms its commitment to the promotion of short films and support for emerging talent, positioning Vila-seca as a meeting point for film professionals and enthusiasts.
