The festival matches the participation figures achieved during its tenth-anniversary edition and expands the number of represented countries to 61.
The 11th edition of FICVI, the Vila-seca International Short Film Festival, has closed its submission period with a total of 1,130 short films from 61 countries, confirming the festival’s consolidation and growing international profile. The number of submissions remains in line with the figures reached in 2025, during the celebration of the festival’s tenth anniversary, when more than 1,100 short films were entered.
The increase in the number of represented countries also highlights FICVI’s growing international appeal. Year after year, the festival continues to establish itself as a meeting point for filmmakers, production companies and audiovisual professionals from around the world.
Organised by the Vila-seca Municipal Tourism Board, FICVI will hold its 11th edition from 17 to 25 October 2026 at the Celler de Vila-seca. During the festival, audiences will enjoy a selection of the finest national and international short films through a programme that combines emerging talent with acclaimed productions from the international festival circuit.
Following the close of submissions, the selection committee will now begin the screening process to choose the short films that will compete in the Official Section. The selected titles will be announced in the coming months.
FICVI also maintains its recognition within the Spanish film industry as a collaborating festival in the preselection process for the Goya Awards in the fiction, animation and documentary categories, further strengthening its prestige and standing within the sector.
With these figures, the Vila-seca International Short Film Festival reaffirms its steady growth and its commitment to promoting short films and film culture, once again placing Vila-seca on the international map of film festivals.
