More than 120 Irish travel agents will take part in a professional event at the Celler de Vila-seca as part of the Irish Travel Agents Association convention
This Friday, 2 October, Vila-seca will be one of the meeting points of the annual convention of the Irish Travel Agents Association (ITAA), which brings together more than 120 Irish travel agents in the Costa Daurada as part of the Costa Daurada Joint Tourism Promotion Plan.
The Celler de Vila-seca will host the conference and professional event, featuring working sessions, a presentation of the Costa Daurada and various networking opportunities between Irish professionals and tourism companies from the region. The day will conclude with a wine tasting in Vila-seca.
The event provides an opportunity to introduce Vila-seca, la Pineda Platja to professionals in the Irish tourism sector and to showcase, first-hand, the range of tourism products and experiences available at the destination.
Founded in 1971, the ITAA represents nearly 100 member companies and around 140 offices across Ireland. Its agents play an important role in advising travellers and marketing destinations and holidays.
A convention to discover the Costa Daurada
The ITAA has selected the Costa Daurada from among several European destinations to host its annual convention.
Under the theme “Innovate. Transform. Adapt. Accelerate”, the convention combines a working session focused on the challenges facing the sector with visits to different locations across the region. The programme begins on Thursday with a golf competition and an introduction to the sport at Infinitum, as well as a visit to PortAventura World. In the evening, participants will attend a welcome dinner in Cambrils. Guests will stay at the Hotel Blaumar in Salou.
On Friday 2 October, in Vila-seca, alongside the convention sessions, there will be a presentation of the Costa Daurada and networking opportunities between Irish professionals and tourism businesses from the area. Afterwards, participants will have the chance to discover local wines during a wine tasting in Vila-seca. The day will conclude with a gala dinner at Club Nàutic de Salou.
On Saturday, agents will be able to choose from several excursions showcasing the diversity of the Costa Daurada. Options include Poblet Monastery and the caves of l’Espluga de Francolí; Reus’s Modernist heritage, including Casa Navàs and its vermouth tradition; a catamaran trip along the coast; and a visit to Tarragona’s Roman heritage. The convention will conclude in the evening with dinner at Infinitum Beach Club.
Ireland, a market of interest for Vila-seca
The event comes as the Irish market continues to show positive growth in the Tarragona area. Between 1 January and 31 July 2026, 205,514 visitors from Ireland were recorded, 6.9% more than during the same period in 2025.
The figures also show the medium-term evolution of this market: compared with the same period in 2023, arrivals have increased by 34.7% and overnight stays by 28.1%. Based on these figures, Ireland is currently the third-largest international market in the Tarragona area.
