Between the districts of Montsià and Baix Ebre is the Ebre Delta, with its 320km2 area. This space is one of the most important aquatic habitats in the western Mediterranean region and has a diversity of different environments. This surreally beautiful area has rivers, bays, beaches, dunes, lagoons, forests and river islets that, along with the rice paddies, have lead to the formation and coexistence of a wide range of plant and animal life.
This biological and scenic wealth is spotlighted to an even greater degree since the creation of the Ebre Delta Nature Park in 1983, located between Amposta, Sant Carles de la Ràpita, Sant Jaume d’Enveja, Ampolla and Deltebre.
