The FICVI -Vila-seca International Short Film Festival- of 2023 starts to warm up with the opening of the inscriptions from the 10th of March. Short films produced after January 1st, 2022 and which have not been registered in the previous edition, will be able to register until June 30th, 2023 through the Festhome platform. The short films entered will be screened publicly during the festival and, above all, will be entered into the competition.
The FICVI consists of two sections: the Official Section and the In situ Section. The Official Section consists of two categories; Fiction and Animation and in total there are eight awards: International Award for Best Fiction Short Film, National Award for Best Fiction Short Film, International Award for Best Animation Short Film, D.O. Catalonia Award, Young Jury Award for Best Short Film, Audience Award, First Prize In situ and the Lifetime Achievement Award.
The prizes will be awarded by a jury appointed by the organisers and made up of representatives from the fields of culture and audiovisual media. The Audience Award will be decided by the people attending the festival and the Young Jury Award will be in the hands of students in their final year of audiovisual studies, new filmmakers and/or acting students.
Full information and rules for FICVI 2023 can be found at www.ficvi.cat.
The In-Situ Section, which will be announced later, is a competition whose aim is to turn Vila-seca into a large film set, where anyone who wants to can take part. The idea is to record, during the weekend, a short film of no more than 3 minutes, using locations in Vila-seca and some surprise elements given by the festival management just before the start of the competition.
The FICVI aims to disseminate and promote filmmaking, as well as to support short film directors and create a space of reference where they can showcase their work.
