Halloween arrives at PortAventura World
20/09/2021“Of hearts and castles” wins the sixth of FICVI
25/10/2021The sixth edition of the International Short Film Festival of Vila-seca, FICVI, was presented today, 13th October, at a press conference at the Auditori Josep Carreras in Vila-seca, the venue where the selected short films will be screened from 16th to 24th October. The presentation was given by the mayor of Vila-seca and president of the Patronat Municipal de Turisme, Pere Segura; the director of FICVI, Josep Varo, and the president of L’Associació d’Empresaris d’Hostaleria of Vila-seca, la Pineda, Juan Hervás.
The FICVI reaches a new edition being a quality film festival consolidated in the territory after five years, a path that, as the mayor of Vila-seca, Pere Segura, said, “has led us to receive recognition from the Spanish Film Academy as a pre-selection festival for short films that opt for the Goya Awards”.
Of the 1,215 works submitted to the FICVI from all over the world, a total of 46 short films, 39 fiction and 7 animation, will be screened in the official section. “This year we have obtained the highest number of entries in the history of FICVI, a fact that demonstrates the desire to participate and to be there”, said the festival’s director, Josep Varo.
This year’s FICVI will have a perfect pairing. Organised by the Associació d’Empresaris d’Hostaleria of Vila-seca, la Pineda, the Cuina de Cine gastronomic days will offer visitors 24 dishes inspired by some of the short films that can be seen at the festival. Thus, 14 restaurants in Vila-seca, la Pineda will host from 14 to 24 October this sample “designed to unify stories, with dishes perfectly paired with wine from the official wine cellar, probably another way to value the short films presented and that surely can help to better understand what the filmmaker wants to explain,” explained the mayor.
“This fusion is very interesting – specified Juan Hervás, president of the AEH of Vila-seca – because it is a good sign that there is more and more gastronomic offer in Vila-seca, la Pineda”.
As for the screenings, the FICVI will kick off on Saturday, 16th October, with In situ, a competition in which a short film of no more than 3 minutes in length will have to be shot using the streets of Vila-seca as a set and some surprising elements that will be announced at the start of the competition.
On Saturday 16th at 08 p.m., the festival will be officially opened at the Auditori Alcalde Josep Malapeira of the Conservatori de Vila-seca, followed by the first screening of the short films.
On 18th, 19th and 20th October there will be screenings at the Auditori Alcalde Josep Malapeira in the afternoon. On the same days, in the morning, the FICVI will move to the Educational Centres of Vila-seca to bring small-format animated films to children.
On 22nd and 23rd October, the festival will move to the Auditori Josep Carreras. On the 23rd, in the morning, the dubbing workshop “Put your voice in a film” will take place in the Auditori Alcalde Josep Malapeira, led by Tony Almagro.
On Sunday, 24th October, the AuditoriJosep Carreras will host the Awards Gala from 06 p.m.. A total of 7,500 euros in prizes will be awarded in the following categories: International, National, DO Catalonia, Best Animation Short Film, Young Jury Award, Audience Award and In Situ Awards. As for the Professional Career Achievement Award of Honour, the screenwriter and film director Isona Passola will be the winner of this year’s edition.
