A weekend in Vila-seca, la Pineda Platja
One good way of getting to know Vila-seca, la Pineda Platja is a weekend getaway, during which you can enjoy an interesting range of leisure and entertainment. Are you ready to discover it?
Afternoon of day 1: Disconnect on the seaside
Kick off your weekend near the sea on La Pineda Platja. Take a stroll on the seashore and wander through Pinar de Perruquet Park, a 2.5 hectare park right next to the sand where you can relax under the lush trees while the kids play on one of the playgrounds. And don’t forget to take a look at the large-scale sculptural pieces Marca d’Aigua (Watermark) and Pineda (Pine Grove). The latter is one of the symbols and icons of the town, which has been used to promote the destination round the world.
In the afternoon, head to one of the two spa and wellness centres in La Pineda to get away from it all. Both at Aquum Spa & Wellness, with over 4000m2 and a little spa for children 5 and older, and at Spalas Spa & Wellness you’ll find nearly endless facilities where you can experiment and try out thermal sensations, waterfalls, jets, Jacuzzis, saunas… A complete experience for your whole body.
Morning of day 2: A stroll through the historic town centre
Let’s carry on with your weekend getaway with a stroll through the Vila-seca historic centre, a space that has undergone a total facelift in recent years and where you will see many traditional retailers and traders. There is a free route with 10 identifying totems at the most significant landmarks. Each of them has information on the local heritage in 5 languages. The Creu de la Beguda (ancient boundary marker cross), the castle, the Celler, the defence towers, the Portal de Sant Antoni, the church of Sant Esteve…
Afternoon of day 2: The marshlands of the Costa Daurada
Séquia Major is one of the must-sees here. This natural space is included in the Government of Catalonia’s Plan for Lands with Natural Interest (PEIN). There are free guided tours so you can learn about the site’s history and its natural values, interpret the traces and signs of animal activity through their paw and claw prints, feathers, nests and food remains. It is also a spectacular place for bird watching. The marsh is replete with large extensions of canes and rushes, as well as some endangered animal species, like the Iberian toothcarp and the European pond turtle. Due to its high ecological value, tours are only available between August and February (when the birds are not nesting). Book your visit by ringing 977 39 03 62.
Day 3: Maximum adrenaline
Take advantage of the last day of your getaway to go to our water parks: Aquopolis Costa Daurada and Caribe Aquatic Park. They both have an extensive range of rides, attractions, shows and restaurants for spending a great day with family or friends.
