26/02/2019The “Patronat de Turisme de la Diputació de Tarragona”, the FEHT and the “Patronats” of Salou, Cambrils and Vila-seca collaborate in the organization of this event that takes place at the Lumine golf club until February 14th.
The Costa Daurada becomes the European golf professional capital these days, coinciding with the third edition of the Costa Daurada Golf Festival, which includes two top-level sports competitions with more than 200 professional players, members of the PGA (Professional Golf Association), at the facilities of the Lumine Mediterránea Beach & Golf Community of La Pineda, Vila-seca. The participation of the “Patronat de Turisme de la Diputació de Tarragona”, as well as of the Federació Empresarial de Turisme de Tarragona and the “Patronats de Turisme” of Salou, Cambrils and Vila-seca responds to the actions planned with the tax on tourist stays which are collected in these municipalities.
Expand and diversify the tourist activity during the different periods of the year
The presence of professional players, as well as the dispute of a PGA tournament, makes this an exceptional showcase in which the Costa Daurada is promoted and positioned as a tourist destination for golfing. It is a specialized product that forms part of the strategy shared by the “Patronat de Turisme de la Diputació de Tarragona” and the FEHT, since it allows to diversify and seasonalize tourism throughout the year, while attracting new markets and tourist segments. The presence of this important community of athletes on the Costa Daurada and the media attraction that they generate within specialized circuits translate into an exceptional opportunity to promote golf tourism for municipalities such as Salou, Cambrils and Vila-seca.
The professional golfers’ stay, from 12 European countries, began on 8th February with a first tournament, the Costa Daurada International Pro-Am, a mixed competition that brought professional players and amateurs until last Saturday. This Tuesday, February 12th, the Europe Fourball Championship begins with the presence of about 200 professional golfers competing in pairs in one of the biggest tournaments in Europe.
By nationalities, the professionals that these days participate in the Costa Daurada Golf Festival 2019 are mostly English and Irish, followed by French, Italian, German and Belgian athletes. There are also golfers from Nordic countries such as Sweden, Finland and Norway, as well as German, Dutch and Swiss, among others.
