Vila-seca, la Pineda Platja has once again been awarded the blue flag and received a special mention in environmental education.

La Pineda Platja will once again be awarded the blue flag, a mark of quality that recognises the diversity of services and the quality of this beach in the municipality of Vila-seca, which has enjoyed this qualification uninterruptedly for the last 24 years.

The blue flag is a quality mark awarded by the Association for Environmental and Consumer Education (ADEAC) to distinguish beaches that meet the requirements for safety, environmental management, cleanliness and services set by the European Union. This year, a total of 627 municipalities in Spain have been awarded the blue flag.

It should be noted that, this year, Vila-seca has also obtained a special mention in Environmental Education, a distinction that is awarded to only 3 municipalities with a blue flag in Spain and which has also been awarded to Arucas (Grand Canaria) and Orihuela (Alicante).

In this sense, in Vila-seca a total of 295 environmental education activities were carried out during 2022, under the umbrella of 6 main lines of action for different audiences: Activities in all the municipality’s educational centres, Activities for adults and families, Permanent public and commercial awareness campaign, Viles Florides Green Spaces Preservation Programme, Sustainable Mobility and Other complementary Environmental Education initiatives.

The aim of these activities is to provide the whole population with the necessary knowledge to increase environmental awareness and promote the necessary attitudes and values to achieve sustainable development and rational use of resources.
