For several years now, Vila-seca has made a clear commitment to food tourism to satisfy the most demanding tastes, with locally sourced and seasonal Mediterranean cuisine. This commitment is directly related to the strategic vision detailed in the municipality’s model for the future and its objective of becoming a prestigious destination on the Costa Daurada, as set out in the Vila-seca Strategic Plan.
This is revealed through every meal and at each restaurant in our region that has taken on the slow food philosophy: Enjoying the sensory pleasures of eating with the five senses, using market and seasonal cuisine, with dishes created from foods with top quality and km zero, or locally sourced.
In Vila-seca and La Pineda Platja you will discover the true pleasure of relishing the products most deeply rooted in our land: seafood like traditional rice dishes, rich fish and noodle stews, fruits and vegetables from local crops… all of them paired with wines from one of the six Designations of Origin Tarragona: DOQ Priorat, DO Montsant, DO Penedès, DO Tarragona, DO Conca de Barberà and DO Terra Alta.
At present, the most traditional and long-established restaurants live side by side with newer ones that follow the latest sector trends, dishing up innovative and fusion cuisine. However, all of them share their commitment to top quality, locally sourced and seasonal foods.
The culinary offering of Vila-seca and La Pineda Platja is so extensive that every taste and every visitor will find something to their liking, without forgetting the most loyal visitors to this destination: families. Vila-seca and La Pineda Platja have scores of restaurants bearing the ‘DTF’ seal (Family Tourism Destination), which means they have meals designed for the children, as well as facilities to ensure family comfort.
And we cannot forget the offering of casual dining. La Pineda Platja has a large variety of bars, terraces and beach bars (xiringuitos) where you can get a quick bite to eat or have a cocktail while gazing out at the sea.
2023 saw the start of the Dgusta Vila-seca gastronomic route. Dgusta Vila-seca is presented as a gastronomic event organised by the Association of Hotel and Catering Businesses of Vila-seca-La Pineda, the Municipal Tourism Board and the Town Council of Vila-seca, with the participation of various catering establishments in Vila-seca and La Pineda. The tastings and food and wine pairings will be served every Thursday evening and will cost 6 euros. The event is expected to continue throughout the year, although there will be a short break in the summer to meet the demands of the high season.
