South of La Pineda Platja, the ‘Watermark’ sculptures filter light and wind, letting visitors rest in their shade. Created in steel by sculptor Sergi Aguilar, their purpose was to pay homage to writer and poet Carles Barral, considered one of the main figures of the 1950s literary generation.
The monument, located in Racó, consists of four columns evocative of the sea, wind, earth and roads, as well as marking the four cardinal points of the wind rose. south, north, east and west. One of the sculptures was erected over a restored bunker-fort from the Spanish Civil War.
