One of the most representative symbols of La Pineda is the set of sculptures bearing the same name, meaning pine grove. The 24 metre height and 130 tonne weight of the eight pines in this glorious piece, designed by artist Xavier Mariscal, add beauty to the seaside promenade and symbolise sustainability, planning and urban development. The first four pines were installed in 1999 and the remaining four in 2008.
The enormous steel and copper sculpture has been used to promote the region of Vila-seca and La Pineda Platja to the world, as the image was adopted as the logotype for the Vila-seca Municipal Tourism Board.
