Taking place on 21 and 22 November, the festival will combine gastronomy, educational activities and family-friendly experiences in a particularly significant year, marking the 125th anniversary of the Vila-seca Agricultural Cooperative.
Vila-seca will once again dedicate a weekend to olive oil with the second edition of its Olive Oil Festival, taking place on 21 and 22 November. The event will feature a programme combining cooking, culture, agricultural heritage and participatory activities, with the aim of showcasing this product and its connection to the town’s history and economic activity.
The initiative aims to introduce the world of olive oil to a wide range of audiences, from food enthusiasts to families, while highlighting the value of locally sourced products. The festival also helps raise the profile of the Vila-seca Agricultural Cooperative, an organisation deeply rooted in local life that is celebrating 125 years of history this year.
The cooperative’s anniversary will take centre stage in this edition, with activities offering an insight into its history and contribution to the town’s agricultural development. A commemorative exhibition and a screening of historical photographs will showcase the organisation’s evolution and its activities over the years. The festival will also provide the setting for the unveiling of the Agricultural Cooperative’s new brand image.
Gastronomy will be one of the main highlights of the programme. Chef Arnau París will lead a live cooking demonstration followed by a tasting, exploring the culinary possibilities of olive oil and sharing ideas for incorporating it into different dishes. Afterwards, visitors will be able to purchase his books and have them signed, as well as meet him, even if they were unable to attend the cooking demonstration.
The programme will also feature a range of activities offering different ways to enjoy and discover olive oil. These will include popular competitions, such as olive stone throwing, aioli making and a blind tasting; the Agricultural Cooperative’s traditional breakfast; the family workshop “Art I oli”; the children’s show “Volem pa i oli”; and a tasting experience combining wine and olive oil.
Another highlight will be the olive oil tourism route, giving participants the opportunity to explore the olive groves and visit the cooperative’s facilities. The route will offer an insight into the environment in which the product is made, along with a tasting to discover its distinctive characteristics.
With this second edition, Vila-seca continues to promote olive oil culture and recognise the importance of local agricultural activity, while offering an experience that brings together gastronomy, heritage and community participation.
